Overview

Are you a Building Maintenance Operative or a Multi Skilled Trades person looking for a new role? We now have a great opportunity for a Building Maintenance Engineer to join our South West based NHS repairs and maintenance team which delivers a first-class repairs service in partnership with this NHS Trust. You will join our highly regarded repairs team to provide reactive, planned and preventative maintenance.

Job Purpose

Working in a mobile role, as Building Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for the maintenance of a number of hospital/healthcare sites. You will work as part of a highly skilled maintenance team (consisting of plumbing, mechanical and multi-skilled maintenance operatives). You will have the opportunity be involved in many aspects of reactive works and planned preventative maintenance (PPM's) such as some electrical repairs and replacement such as changing lamps, sockets through to plumbing and other general buiding maintenance and also PPM's such as fire door checks, Fire alarm testing, Nurse-call system checks / testing.

 

In addition to reactive repairs, there will also be some planned upgrade works, refurbishment as part of our ongoing efforts to ensure a safe environment for service users. Normal working hours are 8am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. You will also the opportunity to participate in an on-call rota system (which offers the opportunity to increase your earnings and be involved in additional urgent repairs).

Experience Required

Previous relevant experience in the maintenance of buildings is essential, ideally within the NHS. This experience might have been gained working directly for the NHS, or a maintenance contractor providing services within the NHS. We will also consider candidates with experience of maintaining commercial properties.

 

The ideal candidate will have achieved industry recognised qualifications such City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2 or having completed a formal apprenticeship or craft equivalent.
