As part of our NHS planned, preventative and reactive maintenance division, we are currently seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team based in Dartford, Kent.

Rydon has established a strong reputation for the quality within our new-build and maintenance sectors, creating and improving communities for the benefit of current and future generations. For over 40 years, we've recruited talented and innovative people to build and maintain homes, schools, hospitals, student accommodation and more. We combine a personal touch with outstanding technical expertise to deliver award-winning, quality facilities for local communities with a commitment from people who are passionate about what they do.

Our maintenance business provides a range of expert planned and responsive maintenance services to domestic properties and commercial buildings in the social housing, health and social care sectors. We look after a growing number of healthcare buildings for NHS Trusts, residential homes and educational facilities. Using the latest technology we ensure properties are well maintained, efficient and fit for purpose.

    Job Purpose

Rydon Maintenance provides hard FM (facilities management) services across the South East of England on behalf of a number of NHS Trusts. We look after more than 250 buildings on behalf of 20 NHS Trusts on a responsive repairs, small works and minor capital projects basis.

We are currently seeking an Operations Manager to act as the primary interface with our Clients across our South East of England contracts, providing a single point of contact for all operational matters, whilst leading our teams to deliver excellent facilities services in line with contractual obligations and budgets. Our contracts in the South East are primarily Hard Facilities Management contracts and cover planned, preventative and responsive maintenance to NHS Trusts. You will manage a small team of Service Managers who are each responsible for a specific Trust/locality. The buildings we maintain range from large inpatient facilities to smaller walk-in centres.

    Key duties include:

    • Ensure delivery of facilities services by our directly employed team and specialist Subcontractors in line with the contractual obligations.
    • Ensure we have compliance with all statutory regulations, current legislation and local codes of practice and policies.
    • Continually review and assess our performance and demonstrate a clear plan of continuous improvement.
    • Continually review and assess Subcontractor performance and demonstrate a clear plan of continuous improvement.
    • Continually review and reduce the sub-contracted services and operating costs by developing in-house skills.
    • Identification and mitigation of risk in all areas of the operation
    • The development of all members of the team.
    • Motivate and ensure profit enhancement through the efficiency of the operation.
    • Strategic Planning across a one to three year period
    • Maintaining and developing client relationships.
    • Continuous improvement of the business processes and procedures to deliver consistent standards of service.
    • Deliver Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety issues

This is a critical role where you will ensure our teams are meeting quality targets we set with your exceptional leadership skills, engaging communication skills and using your ability to continuously drive service improvements through innovation/streamlining of our processes.

    Experience Required

The ideal candidate will have previous operationional management experience gained ideally within a maintenance contractor (or hard facilities management contractor). Candidates demonstrating experience within an organisation providing these services to the commercial or other public sector organisations other than the NHS will also be considered. The role would suit a candidate with experience of managing multiple contracts concurrently, however we will also consider candidates who have worked to contract manager level looking to 'step up' into a more regionalised role. You should have excellent team leadership/management experience, be passionate about delivering business efficiencies and have strong building knowledge. The work we undertake covers most trades, although there is a particular volume within M&E - therefore, candidates able to demonstrate solid mechanical and electrical knowledge will be especially encouraged to apply.

Rydon provides exception opportunities for personal development, and it is envisaged over time that this role will offer the opportunity for the preferred candidate to grow in their role and take on further responsibilities. If you have the above experience, we would strongly encourage you to apply.

    Additional Information

As a well established, progressive company we are committed to attracting and retaining individuals by offering an excellent benefits package that includes a wide range of core and voluntary benefits.

Rydon is an equal opportunities employer and promotes diversity in employment. Successful candidates will be selected solely on their ability to carry out the duties of the post.
