    We now have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Engineer with a carpentry/multi trade background to join our South East based NHS Healthcare team.

    Our maintenance business provides a range of expert planned and responsive maintenance services to domestic properties and commercial buildings in the social housing, health and social care sectors. We look after a growing number of healthcare buildings for NHS Trusts, residential homes and educational facilities. Using the latest technology we ensure properties are well maintained, efficient and fit for purpose.

    Job Purpose

    Our healthcare team have been appointed to provide a planned and reactive maintenance service to our end client, a world class provider of emergency and urgent health care services in pre-hospital and out of hospital environments. This position will cover the Kent region but the contract covers Surrey and Sussex as well. With half million patient transport journeys handled every year its essential to keep these busy healthcare buildings operational at all times. Rydon Maintenance are committed to provide a first-class planned, preventative and reactive maintenance service to ensure that this Trust is able to continue to deliver its services without disruption.


    As part of this maintenance role, you will provide repairs on a reactive (call-out) basis to ambulance stations, make-ready centres and emergency response outposts in Kent. There will be a particular emphasis on carpentry, joinery, iron mongery (such as the changing of locks, changing of door furniture, fitting of new hinges) along with some basic plumbing (such as changing of backsplashes, changing taps, fitting of washers) and some basic electrical works (changing sockets, lightbulbs etc). You will also provide planned maintenance (PPM's) to include emergency light testing, fire alarm testing etc. 


    Normal working hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday. There is also the opportunity to participate in an on-call rota system (which offers the opportunity to increase your earnings and be involved in additional urgent repairs).

    Experience Required

    Previous relevant experience in the maintenance of buildings is essential, ideally within the NHS (or for a maintenance contractor providing services to the NHS). That said this is by no means essential and candidates with experience of providing planned/reactive maintenance in a commercial/education environment (such as hotels, supermarkets, schools etc) will also be considered. You will have the ability to undertake carpentry/joinery and basic plumbing works.


    You will have excellent customer service skills and be passionate about providing high quality repairs.
