Rydon Homes is a well-established development company specialising in the creation of high-quality homes across the south east of England, particularly in Kent, Sussex and Hampshire.
Rydon Homes is now seeking a Buyer to join our head office based commercial team in Forest Row, East Sussex. This newly created role is an essential part of our commercial team and is designed to provide additional assistance as we continue to grow. Our Buyers play an important role and take responsibility for scheduling and purchasing construction materials in order that we can complete the development of our luxury new build housing schemes on time and to budget.
Working with our project managers, quantity surveyors and estimators, the successful candidate will take responsibility for:
- Scheduling and Purchasing materials on our current contracts.
- Financial cost control of material purchases
- Financial reporting
- Review and consider alternative products to enhance the aesthetics, environmental credentials and/or cost of materials used
- Develop outstanding supplier relationships
This is a key role that will join a team with industry leading relationships with our preferred suppliers. The successful candidate will contribute by ensuring that our customers are able to move into their new home on time, and that materials procured meet Rydon's stringent quality standards. You will also help maximise the profitability of each job through ensuring excellent value for money (this is not always about the 'cheapest price' but about which organisation will deliver a product of the quality Rydon expects).
The ideal candidate will have previous experience gained as a Buyer, working for either a residential developer or main/principal contractor. The preferred candidate will demonstrate experience of materials buying and scheduling. You will have strong attention to detail, good communication/relationship management skills and have a passion for maintaining and driving company standards. Strong Excel skills would also be a distinct advantage.
